European Lightweight Cluster Alliance

Green light for the ELCA network from the Executive Agency for SMEs (EASME) for the promotion of cluster internationalization as part of the call COS-CLUSINT-2019-3-01.

This call aims to intensify cross-border and cross-sector collaboration

to support European strategic cluster partnerships as they expand international cluster cooperation beyond Europe. The action will be carried out from May 2020 to 2022 by five ELCA partners and involves the network’s six working groups.

The project is led by AMZ – Automotive Suppliers Network Saxony from Germany. The partners included are Plastipolis (France), ClustER-Mech (Italy), Bydgoszcz Industrial Cluster (Poland), and Clúster de Materials Avançats de Catalunya (Spain).

The objective is to promote the use of European lightweight products, technologies, and services in markets outside the EU by developing a common internationalization strategy. Five stages of the value chain in four mobility sectors will be considered: aerospace, aviation, automotive industry, rail, and maritime. Two types of markets will be addressed. The starting points for mature markets will be the USA and Japan, while India and regions in Latin America will be the starting points for less mature markets. Through this project, the ELCA Network will consolidate its expansion on a global level and enhance the strength and visibility of European lightweight solutions for reducing CO2 emissions.
